Status of Our Search for a Pastor:
The activities that take place in the process of calling our next pastor fall into three phases.
The items listed in each of the phases below need to be completed in our search for a new pastor. The specific steps within each phase may not follow that exact sequence, but should provide a representation of what we will be doing. We will continue to update this information to reflect the work that has been completed along with the work we have yet to complete.
The items that are in green (identified with the check) have been completed. The items in blue (identified with the arrow) are currently underway. The items in black (identified with the circle) are yet to be done.
Phase One: Setting Up the Organization
Mission Study (our Core Vision) Committee develops the Center Grove Presbyterian Church Core Vision
Session and Presbytery approval of the Core Vision
Congregation elects Pastor Nominating Committee
Assign role and responsibility of each PNC member
Meet with the Presbytery Committee on Ministry representative
Develop the Church Information Form (CIF)
Session & Presbytery approval of the CIF
Submit CIF to PCUSA Web site
Establish processes to receive, review, screen and respond to interested applicants
Phase Two: Conduct a Broad Search
Broadly communicate position and begin networking
Advertise in selected journals
Communicate with other presbyteries and synods to request referrals
Communicate search status to congregation and ask for referrals
Receive PIF’s (Pastor Information Form) and resumés
Evaluate and screen the PIF’s and resumes of candidates
Conduct telephone interviews with selected applicants
Review sermon tapes
Narrow list of candidates
Phase Three: Final Selection Process
Interview finalists in person
Contact references
Conduct background checks
Select candidate of choice
Obtain Presbytery approval
Introduce candidate to congregation
Obtain congregation approval
