ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Worship flowers celebrate the birthdays for Michelle, Josh and Connor Lemons. And for Amos and Cindy’s anniversary.

2. Very important meeting: The Annual Congregational Meeting is September 28 at 9:45 a.m. (between worship service). The purpose is to elect Elders, Deacons for next year and the 2009 Nominating Committee, and the Pastor Nominating Committee. All adult Christian education classes will be cancelled for that Sunday.

3. Breakfast at Shepherd Community--a great way to serve the community by preparing and serving breakfast on a Sunday morning. Any Small Group or a few individuals can choose an available date for the fall: Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 23, Dec. 28. Contact Andrea Culver @ 882-7922 with any questions and she will set you up.

4. Music: If you enjoyed the special music on Sunday, Aug. 10, here is an opportunity for you. Marsha Dixson has a few CDs available. Marge Slauter will collect orders (and cash, cost is $12) and take them to New Orleans when we go for our next trip, Sept. 13. Please see Marge prior to that date or contact her at marge_slauter@prodigy.net.

5. Be Still...2008 Women’s Weekend...Relax...Reconnect… Recharge...October 4-5 at Pyoca Camp & Conference Center. Our mission is to provide an opportunity to grow spiritually and to develop & deepen relationships with other women. We will begin with lunch at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday and conclude by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Cost $65 if registered by Sept. 7 or $75 if registered between Sept. 8 and Sept. 21. Register in the lobby this Sunday.

6. Keys! We will be changing the alarm code and the door locks and we need to know who has keys. Thank you for taking the time to call the office!

7. FREE--There is a desk in the barn if anybody would like to come and get it. If you have any questions about this desk, call Wayne Koons at 407-0695.

8. New Orleans Mission trip. The Mission Team invites you to be a part of this team. We leave the church by bus the morning of Saturday, Sept. 13 & return late Saturday the 20th. We will stay at Canal Street Church and work rebuilding homes damaged by Katrina. There are jobs for people of all skill levels. Cost is $125 per/person plus meals on travel days and one night’s meal downtown. Contact Mark Slauter at 888-5142 or msslauter@prodigy.net or Dave Swalve, 888-7991 or dgswalve@comcast.net.

9. Clipboard Connections! Check out the clipboards in the fellowship hall for things that people are interested in doing and find others interested in the same activity. Several lists have been started including paint ball, knitting, hobby night, camping, and building the outdoor pavilion, as well as many others. If your name is on the list, take it upon yourself to email the others on the list and get together. No one on staff is going to make this happen. The next step is yours.

10. Precept Bible Study: Come see what Precept is all about! Sign up for a two-week study on the book of Jonah beginning Sept. 9 and 11-no cost-no obligation to attend the next two fall classes on Joel/Obadiah and Amos. Call Pastor Sally to register and for more information on dates and times.

11. Core Vision Event Sept. 21. We encourage everyone to participate Sunday afternoon, 9/21, as we review the results of the all-church survey and start asking, "Where is God leading our church from here?" There will be a meal provided and plenty of opportunity for you to engage and have input in the discernment process. Child care will also be available. To help figure out how much food to provide there will be a sign-up sheet in the lobby. The event will start right after the second worship service and should last about 2 hours.

12. Deacon’s September Food Drive--We will be collecting food items (no glass please) for the Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County in the church hallway. Needed donations included such items as canned goods (fruit, beans, tomato and chicken noodle soup, tuna), boxed/bagged goods (cereals, macaroni and cheese, crackers, rice, noodles), peanut butter, jelly, Jell-O, baby items, personal hygiene items and paper goods. Monetary gifts are also appreciated. For more information see Deacon Cindy Alchin.

13. Children’s Ministry--Kid’s Stuff!
Center Grove Presbyterian Church Children’s Ministry exists to partner with families to love, teach, and nurture children in their journey of faith. Our desire is that every child will be devoted to Jesus and developing Christ-like character with passion and purpose.
